What is Junior Freediving

Inspiration for New Generation

Junior Freediving introduces children to the sport of freediving while helping them build breath-holding skills within a comfortable and safe range. This program is designed for children ages 12 to 15. At age 12, children needs have the fundamentals of floating, swimming, and becoming comfortable in the water. As they grow older and progress through each course, they are introduced to the basics of various freediving disciplines, setting the foundation for a potential lifelong passion for the sport.

Throughout their journey of learning to swim and freedive, children not only acquire technical diving skills, but also improve their overall health, gain water safety knowledge, and develop a positive connection with the ocean.

Features of Junior Freediving

In Junior Freediving courses, children begin by mastering basic swimming techniques. As they progress through the levels, they are gradually introduced to freediving disciplines and start training in freediving as a sport.

Key practical tasks include:

  • Learning basic swimming techniques (front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke)

  • Practicing movement in water with and without fins

  • Understanding and practicing essential freediving techniques, such as:

    • Duck dives

    • Turns

    • Breathing techniques before and after diving

  • Training both aerobic and anaerobic endurance

  • Increasing resistance to hypercapnia and acidosis

Alongside her is a team of highly skilled Junior Instructors (ITs) who are both experienced educators and athletes, committed to providing top-quality training.

  2. Dedicated to Natalia Molchanova's Philosophy The Molchanovs system is inspired by the philosophy of Natalia Molchanova, the World Champion freediver. Natalia always emphasized the importance of safe, efficient freediving through education and training. The Molchanovs system continues to uphold these principles, which also form the foundation of the adult Lap/Wave Freediving courses. These same principles are integrated into the Junior Freediving Education System.
